This Privacy Policy explains how GoSplit ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the GoSplit mobile application ("App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you register or sign in we collect:

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Profile picture

1.2 Driver Verification Documents

If you enable driver mode we collect:

• CNIC (National Identity Card) image
• Driver licence image
• Vehicle front and rear photographs
• Vehicle details: make, model, year, colour, registration number, engine displacement (cc)

These documents are stored in Firebase Storage and reviewed by our administrators to verify your identity before you can post rides.

1.3 Location Data

The App collects your precise GPS location while it is in use to:

• Show nearby available rides on the map
• Set pickup and drop-off points when posting a ride
• Match passengers with drivers in the same area

Location data is not stored on our servers. It is used in real-time and discarded after the session.

1.4 Usage Data

We automatically collect:

• Device push notification token (for ride alerts)
• App interaction data used to improve the service
• Crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics)

1.5 Payment Information

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive, store, or process your payment card details. We receive only a confirmation of the purchase entitlement from Google Play.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Retention

• Account data, documents, and vehicle information are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) on servers operated by Google LLC.
• Document images are retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
• Push tokens are cleared from our database when you log out.
• Location data is not persisted.
• If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

4. Sharing of Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Other users: Your name, profile picture, and vehicle details are visible to other users when you post or join a ride. Your phone number is shared with accepted ride participants to facilitate coordination.
• Service providers: We use Google Firebase (database, storage, authentication, notifications), Google AdMob (advertising), and Google Play (payments). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
• Legal obligations: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
• Business transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Advertising (AdMob)

Free-tier users see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data to personalise ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised ads through your device's advertising settings.

Users who purchase a "Remove Ads" subscription or the lifetime plan will not see advertisements.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:

• All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses TLS encryption.
• Firebase Security Rules restrict access so users can only read and write their own data.
• Driver documents are stored in a private Firebase Storage bucket accessible only to authenticated users and administrators.
• Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plaintext.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take all reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information via the Profile screen in the App.
• Delete your account and associated data by contacting us (see Section 10).
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings. Note that some App features will not function without location permission.
• Object to the processing of your data for advertising purposes through your device's ad settings.

11. Changes to This Policy
